2006 Islamicjerusalem Conference
The Challenges of Islamicjerusalem
Friday 2 June 2006
Call for Papers
Theme
In the last paragraph of the conclusion of his newly published monograph, Introducing Islamicjerusalem, Professor Abd al-Fattah El-Awaisi argues that Several supporting evidences have been provided to support the author’s central argument that Islamicjerusalem is not exclusive but inclusive and should be opened up “to everyone in the universe”, as stated in the Qur’an Lil‘alamin (Qur’an, 21:71), “so that you should get to know one another” Li ta‘arafu (Qur'an, 49:13), not that you may despise each other. This unique global common space of openness and Barakah has made Islamicjerusalem an ideal Amal region where the one human family can make Li ta‘arafu, live together in Aman and enjoy this Barakah.
Introducing Islamicjerusalem can be a challenging issue for those in academic, religious, and political establishments who are interested in the region and who may have difficulty accepting this new concept – since it may go beyond their political or religious agenda and attachments. Others may even have difficulty with innovation and new ideas. To advance such knowledge, understanding, definitions and approaches is also indeed to challenge long-established traditionalist and Orientalist claims.
The conference will focus on the challenging issues presented in Professor El-Awaisi’s latest monograph. This will include:
- the new concept and definitions of Islamicjerusalem and Islamicjerusalem Studies.
- the Barakah Circle Theory of Islamicjerusalem and the geographical location and boundaries of Islamicjerusalem.
- the new terminology, the land of Amal (Hope) and the Prophet’s strategic plan which he himself drew up for Islamicjerusalem.
- the vision of Islamicjerusalem as a model for conflict resolution with its main key elements:
- the methodological approach of Tadafu’ (counterbalance)
- the concept of ‘Adl (Justice)
- the principle of non exclusion
- the constructive argumentation methodology.
- the vision of Islamicjerusalem as a model for multiculturalism and a unique global common space where Lil‘alamin can make Li ta‘arafu
