Research Interests

Core sources and approaches in the study of Islam and Muslims, Political Islam, Comparative politics, International relations, political thought, methodologies of tafsir and mufassirin, Islamic thought and matters related to Civilisational dialogue. Living in three Continents.

Background

Perspectives with a pool of expertise from different academic specialisms within humanities and coming from both Political Science and Islamic Studies backgrounds in particular Islamic Thought, my teachings interests include the following:

  • Core Sources and approaches in the Study of Islam and Muslims
  • Political Islam
  • Islam, Politics and International Relations
  • Postgraduate Research Methods in the study of Islam and Muslims 
I previously worked as Lecturer of Human Sciences and Islamic Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia and was also a Weekly Lecture at Islamic Outreach, Malaysia. Forum for Islamic Understanding). I worked as Member, Curriculum Development committee of the International School project, International Islamic University, Malaysia. I have embarked on translation of conference papers and some academic works from Arabic into English and vice versa.  While, I was a full time lecturer at the International Islamic University Malaysia, I was at times assigned to translate some academic papers across a wide range of academic disciplines in human and social sciences.
